AEROSEAL DUCT SEALING

Action Duct's Aeroseal duct cleaning services employ advanced technology to seal and optimize air duct systems, enhancing energy efficiency and indoor air quality in commercial, industrial, and residential spaces.

Aeroseal Duct Sealing

Commercial, Industrial, and Residential Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems typically leak 30% of the air that goes through them, thereby wasting energy and significantly affecting how well an HVAC system works throughout an office building, school home, or other facility. Aeroseal duct sealing reduces your HVAC energy bill by 20-40%, and addresses many common issues, including:

  • Hot and/or cold spots, including areas that don’t get warm or cool enough when your HVAC system is running
  • High utility bills
  • Poor indoor air quality (IAQ), heightened allergy symptoms or sick building syndrome (literally when indoor air issues make people sick). According to the NIH, studies show that improvement of IAQ increases office productivity and school learning, and improves sleep significantly while decreasing the risk of allergic and asthmatic symptoms within residential,  commercial, and industrial spaces.
  • Failed specifications for duct tightness in commercial buildings

Duct Testing and the Aeroseal Process

Aeroseal duct sealing is a patented breakthrough technology that tackles leaks from the inside out. Aeroseal duct sealing software allows our technicians to conduct a duct leakage test—accurately measuring the duct leakage in residences and commercial buildings. The Aeroseal duct sealing process puts escaping air under pressure and causes polymer particles to first stick to the edges of a leak and then to each other, until the leak is closed.

Getting Technical

The Aeroseal duct sealing technology was developed at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, in the Indoor Environment Group division, where it was tested by IAQ scientists. The research was funded by the US Environmental Protection Agency, the US Department of Energy, the Electric Power Research Institute and the California Institute of Energy and Environment.

The University of California was granted initial patents in 1996 and 1999, and Aeroseal, Inc. holds an exclusive license to this technology.

Action Duct Cleaning is proud to be an Aeroseal duct cleaning service agent—considered ‘Best in Class’ at using the Aeroseal duct sealing process.

Aeroseal Versus Other Solutions

From both a cost and efficacy perspective, Aeroseal duct sealing is the best way to go. Aeroseal duct sealing is far lower in cost than replacing ductwork and can be done in a fraction of the time. Aeroseal technology is superior in detecting leaks. Repairing leaky or dilapidated ducts manually with air duct sealant, duct tape, mastic or other adhesives, will not create airtight, durable seals.

The cost of Aeroseal duct sealing is typically recovered in 3 to 7 years. According to the US Department of Energy and several other sources, Aeroseal is one of the best, most cost effective energy saving solutions for property owners. Also, the tax code put into place at the end of 2017 indicates that investing in Aeroseal duct sealing can yield tax benefits.

Aeroseal Benefits

Industrial & Residential Aeroseal duct sealing delivers substantial benefits for commercial facilities and homes without a large capital expenditure, by:

  • Significantly reducing energy consumption and associated costs
  • Improving indoor air quality
  • Creating comfortable, even temperatures in all rooms
  • Reducing odors and fumes

Survey Says

A recent survey concluded that more than 74% of commissioning professionals agreed that most buildings have significant duct leakage.
